It is said that these originated as a geometry lesson for young boys in

Nov 24 & Dec 1: Box Tile Casting
Pittsburgh, PA. Tuition: $155. 6:30-8:30PM. This is a multi-day
workshop offering students the chance to kiln cast their own 8” x 8” clear
glass tile using the Bullseye box casting method. Students will take the
first day to sculpt an object out of clay that they want imprinted into
their tile. Alginate will be used to make a negative of the clay mold in
order to make multiple plaster/silica positives. Students will then
calculate how much clear glass will be needed to fill their molds. The
second day of this class will be used to polish the clear tiles in the cold
shop. After this two-day workshop, you will walk away with a basic knowledge
of box kiln casting, alginate and plaster/silica mold making, polishing and
