March 2010 Classes

10 Week Glass Course
France. Tuition: €200 all course materials for your first two set projects are provided. Choose Tuesday morning 9.30 until 12.00 or Tuesday or Thursday afternoons 2.00 until 4.30. Over ten morning and/or afternoon sessions learn how to cut and shape pieces of glass to fit into your overall design. Individual Stained Glass Classes
Stafford Springs, CT. Held at Stained Glass Creations and Beyond. Tuition: $100/ $25 per week, all materials included. Classes are 4 weeks in length and held on  Mon, Tues. Mar 1: Fusing Night - Frit Stenciling
North Hampton, NH. Held at Accents in Glass. 6:30 - 8:30PM. Tuition: $30.  One night a week 2 hours each night we will have a project for you to make. Some projects will take several weeks others will take only one week. We will have an instructor available to assist you with your project. This class is designed to help build skills and have fun. Students will need to bring their own tools, supplies and glass. Classroom machines will be available for use during class. Mar 6 and 13: Cappuccino Anyone?
Cooper City, FL. Held at Art Glass Connection. 2:00 - 5:00PM / 2:00 - 4:00PM on 13th. Tuition: $55 and includes frit, paint supplies and 2 firings. This fusing workshop is loaded with fun techniques (thanks to noted glass artist Dione Roberts!) that are going to open up a whole new world for you to explore. We're going to play with the Beetle Bits system, band saw, fusible glass, frit and glass paints. Imagine the decorating possibilities for your kitchen or to give away as treasured gifts! Mar 13: Introduction to Fusing
Mesa, AZ. Held at Kachina Stained Glass. Tuition: $55 + tools and supplies. Saturday 2:00PM-5:00PM. In this workshop you will learn the basics of glass fusing including the following; glass compatibility, fusing temperatures, loading the kiln, properly layering and fusing glass. Students will complete one fused project. Students must know how to cut glass and have their own cutting tools (cutter, breakers, and sharpie). Mar 13 & 20 - Capture the Bubble Pendant Class
Allentown, PA. Held at Warner Stained Glass. Tuition: $40, supplies included. 9:30am - 11:30am. Air trapped inside fused glass doesn’t have to be an undesirable occurrence. Air pockets can be purposely added to your fused glass art to insert texture and interest to a piece. Learn how to trap these bubbles by making a pendant in one simple 2 hour class. Come back the following week to refine the edges and give your pendant a nice fire polish. No fusing experience needed. All supplies included. Mosaic Mirror ClassMar 13 & 20: Mosaic Mirror

Mar 18: Fish Bones and Beads
Cooper City, FL. Held at Art Glass Connection. 6:30 - 9:00PM. Tuition: $45 and includes all supplies. This is a unique workshop! And this time you will bring home all the fish stories! Mar 20: Frame Your Own Panel
Cooper City, FL. Held at Art Glass Connection. 2:00 - 5:00PM. Tuition: $45+ metals. This is the workshop that you have been waiting for! You will learn how to frame your own stained glass flat panel work of art in zinc channel. This is the final step in completing a stained glass flat panel. A great skill to learn. Mar 28: Make-It-Now Eggscetera
Pittsburgh, PA. Held at Pittsburg Art Glass Center. Tuition: $25. The Easter Bunny will be surprised to see a beautiful handmade glass egg in your basket this year or a flameworked carrot pendant and fused egg tile. You'll have three options to Make-It-Now! Robert Oddy Class at Vinery GlassApril 17 & 18, Robert Oddy Stained Glass Class
Madison, WI Held at The Vinery   9:30-5pm Tuition: $295 One of the qualities for which Robert Oddy's work is known is the illusion of depth in his stained glass windows and panels. This is achieved by a combination of techniques, including the use of multiple layers of glass (Plating), copper foil overlays, careful choice of glass and appropriate design principles. Bob will explain the principles in a number of short presentations, and students will work on a project to practice the techniques. The pattern for the project will be sent to students prior to the workshop, and they will be asked to do some preliminary work so they can focus on the more advanced work during the workshop weekend. This two-day workshop is intended for more advanced students: people who have already mastered the basic techniques of working in stained glass, particularly the copper foil method. May 1: Memories Garden Sculpture
Gettysburg, PA. Held at Wentz Stained Glass Studio. Tuition: $80. 9:00am - 12:00PM or 1:00 - 4:00PM. Add a burst of color to your Spring landscape. Use your scrap glass from previous projects to create this stunning 5 foot sculpture. As you foil your glass, you can relive the memories of past projects. All you need to bring is solder, soldering equipment & pre-foiled scrap glass. We will supply everything else. May 17 - 21: Plasti-city with Einar and Jamex de la Torre

We will be covering the use of bit-work and direct ways of applying a palette of color. Assignments will be given to promote class cohesion. Drawing will be encouraged for design and communication purposes. Mixed media will be discussed as well as the use of fasteners and glues in the assemblage process. Our aim is to create an attitude with the material in terms of what it can do to you and your ideas. This is not a ‘glassblowing’ class. Aug 9 - 13: Teen Boot Camp at Pittsburg Glass Center
Pittsburg, PA. Tuition: $700. Teens take over Pittsburgh Glass Center in this intensive summer program! This one-week summer program introduces the science and art of glass to teens. It gives students the rare hands-on experience of learning the many facets of glass in one of the top facilities in the country. Sessions will include blowing in the Hot Shop; sculpting at the torch in the Flame Shop; fusing in the kiln in the Warm Shop; grinding and polishing in the Cold Shop along with discussions and slide presentations of historical and contemporary glass art.
