Thorne Rooms at the Phoenix Art Museum
These rooms were conceived, designed and in large part created by Narcissa Niblack Thorne. The rooms faithfully depict the architecture and interior design of their periods and countries and are made at a scale of 1:12  Phoenix Art Museum owns 20 of the 100 Thorne Miniature Rooms. Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago: The 68 Thorne Miniature Rooms enable one to glimpse elements of European interiors from the late 13th century to the 1930s and American furnishings from the 17th century to the 1930s. Painstakingly constructed on a scale of one inch to one foot, these fascinating models were conceived by Mrs. James Ward Thorne of Chicago and constructed between 1932 and 1940 by master craftsmen according to her specifications. Chinese-American Museum of Chicago: This museum holds 20 diorama originally made in 1933 in China and San Francisco by the Ling Long Museum, as part of the celebration effort for Chicago's "Century of Progress" expo.
